Coimbra Rest Day

Seems like it's been forever since we've had a rest day, but we've actually only walked four days since leaving Tomar on September 1st. This was a pretty typical 'rest' day consisting of getting our laundry done, running errands (pharmacy and grocery store stops), and sightseeing.

We visited the Mosteiro de Santa Clara-a-Nova, a 16th century convent and church where Queen Isabel is interred. We had passed this convent on our way into town and Rich, Jerry and Dave were not thrilled about walking back up the hill.

We then headed back to town, had a quick lunch and wandered Largo de Portagem, Coimbra's main square, before visiting our second church of the day, Mosteiro de Santa Cruz (Church of Santa Cruz).

All in all, we did enough walking today to qualify as a 'short day' on the Camino!
