Camino Day 14 - Albergaria-a-Velha to São João da Madeira

Hard to believe we've been walking 14 days already! After the last three days of relatively short walks, today (September 9th) was another long trek - @ 18.5 miles. And, after yesterday’s rain, today was pleasantly warm and sunny. The terrain was mostly asphalt, with a few stretches of woodland track and some cobblestones. As we get closer to Porto, the countryside contains more urban and industrial areas. The last three towns we passed through before arriving in São João da Madeira were either a northern suburb of Oliveira da Azeméis or a southern suburb of São João.

Like all of our previous long mileage days (anything >15 miles), we left our lodging @ 5:45, equipped with a sack lunch and headlamps as we made our way through the pre-dawn countryside. This was another day of climbing, although not as intense as some of our previous days, as we only logged @ 1500 feet of elevation gain. We're all definitely getting stronger, but our feet still hurt at the end of the day and our backpacks aren't getting any lighter!
